Okay, here is my blog post about using tea tree oil to clean the floor:

I’ve been trying to use more natural cleaning products around the house lately. You know, less of those harsh chemicals and more of the stuff that’s supposedly better for you and the environment. So, the other day, I thought, why not try using tea tree oil for cleaning the floor? I’d heard it’s good for disinfecting and all that.

First, I cleared the floor like I usually do before mopping. I grabbed my broom and swept away all the dust and crumbs. Then I put the bigger stuff away, you know, just to get it out of the way. I figured I’d start with a clean slate, literally.

Next, I got my bucket and filled it up with some warm water. Now, here’s where the tea tree oil comes in. I’d read online that you only need a few drops, but I wasn’t sure, so I put like, maybe, 10 drops in there? I also added a little bit of regular dish soap because, well, I wanted to make sure it was actually cleaning.

My Mopping Strategy

  • Start from the back of the room and work towards the door. That way, you’re not walking over the wet floor you just cleaned.
  • Dip the mop in the bucket, wring it out, and start mopping.
  • Rinse the mop frequently, especially if it starts looking dirty.

I dipped my mop into the bucket, wrung it out, and started mopping. I made sure to go from the back of the room towards the door, like how you’re supposed to. Honestly, it felt just like regular mopping. The floor got wet, and then it dried. But there was this strong tea tree oil smell. It wasn’t bad, just… strong. Like, you definitely knew I was using tea tree oil.

After I was done, the floor looked clean. I mean, as clean as it usually looks after I mop. I guess the tea tree oil did its job? It’s hard to tell if it’s really “disinfected” or whatever. But hey, at least I tried something new, right? And my place smelled like a spa for a few hours, which was kind of nice, I guess.

So, would I use tea tree oil to clean my floor again? Maybe. It’s not a miracle cleaner or anything, but it seemed to work. Plus, it’s a natural option, which is cool. If you’re into that kind of stuff, give it a try. Just be prepared for the strong smell!
