Okay, so I’ve been wanting to make my apartment smell amazing, like, really amazing. I saw this “White Tea and Thyme” scent thing online and thought, “That sounds fancy, I bet I can do that myself!” I’m no perfumer, but I figured, how hard could it be?

First, I gathered my stuff. I already had some dried thyme in my spice rack – score! Then I went to the store and grabbed some white tea bags. I figured the cheapest ones would work fine, it’s just for the smell, right?

The Experiment Begins

  • I boiled some water in my little kettle.
  • Then, I tossed in a few tea bags and a good handful of the dried thyme. I didn’t measure anything, just eyeballed it.
  • I let it all simmer for a bit, like maybe 20 minutes? I kept sniffing it to see if it was strong enough.
  • It started to smell pretty good, but honestly, more like thyme than anything else. The white tea was kind of subtle.

After the test in the kitchen, I poured some boiled water, white tea, and thyme into some smaller, prettier containers, I did not use the original tea bags for the final phase.

I placed my scent containers on the corners, I tried using a candle warmer but it was too strong. So, just letting it sit out seemed to work best. It’s a really light, clean scent. Perfect for spring!

So, that’s it! It was super easy and my apartment smells way better than it did before. It’s not exactly like those expensive candles, but it’s pretty darn close, and I made it myself, which is always a bonus.
