herbal tea
Okay, so I’ve been seeing these fancy bottled black teas everywhere, and I decided to give it a shot myself. Figured it couldn’t be that hard, right?
First, I gathered my stuff. You know, the basics:
I started by boiling a whole bunch of water in the pot. Like, a lot. I probably used way too much, but hey, better safe than sorry, right? Once it was boiling like crazy, I turned off the heat and tossed in a handful of tea bags. I think I used, like, eight? Maybe ten? I lost count. I just kept throwing them in until it felt right.
Then came the waiting game. I let it steep for a good while. I didn’t really time it, just kinda eyeballed it until the water turned a nice, deep brown color. Figured that meant it was strong enough.
After that, I fished out the tea bags with a spoon. It was a bit messy, but I managed. Then I stirred in a generous amount of sugar. I like my tea sweet, so I probably went overboard. Don’t judge me.
This is where the funnel came in handy. I carefully poured the tea into the bottles, trying not to spill it everywhere. It was a bit of a slow process, but I got there eventually. I filled the bottles almost to the top, leaving a little bit of space.
Once they were all filled, I screwed on the caps tightly and popped them in the fridge to chill. Gotta have that cold, refreshing tea, you know?
After a few hours, I took one out and tried it. It was…pretty good! Not gonna lie, I was a little surprised. It definitely tasted like black tea, and it was nice and sweet. Maybe a little too sweet, but hey, I can always adjust that next time.
All in all, it was a fun little experiment. It’s not exactly rocket science, but it felt good to make something myself. Plus, now I have a fridge full of homemade black tea!
