Okay, so the other day I was feeling a bit under the weather, and my throat was killing me. I remembered my grandma’s old remedy – green tea, honey, and lemon. Figured I’d give it a shot, and document the whole thing, because why not?

Getting Started

First, I gathered my ingredients. Nothing fancy, just the basics:

  • Green tea bags (I used some basic Lipton ones, nothing special)
  • Honey (Local is always best, but I just had the regular stuff in my pantry)
  • A lemon (Freshly picked one)
  • Water (Filtered, cause I’m a bit particular about my water)

The Brewing Process

I boiled the water in my electric kettle. While that was going, I grabbed my favorite mug – a big, chunky one that keeps things warm. I tossed in a green tea bag and poured the hot water over it. I let it steep for, like, 3 or 4 minutes. I’m not super precise with this; I just wait until it looks like a nice, light green color.

Adding the Good Stuff

Once the tea was steeped, I removed the tea bag. Then came the fun part. I squeezed in a generous amount of honey. I probably used about a tablespoon, maybe a bit more. I like it sweet! Then, I cut the lemon in half and squeezed the juice from one half into the mug. I stirred everything together with a spoon until the honey was all dissolved.

The Final Result

And that’s it! I took a sip, and it was pretty good. The lemon was nice and tart, the honey added that sweetness, and the green tea had that slightly earthy flavor. It definitely soothed my throat. I ended up drinking the whole mug while curled up on the couch watching some TV.

It wasn’t a miracle cure, but it definitely helped. Plus, it was just a nice, cozy drink to have on a chilly evening. I’ll probably make it again next time I’m feeling a bit blah. Simple, easy, and tasty – can’t beat that!
