Okay, so I’ve been seeing these green tea mints everywhere, and I finally decided to give them a shot. I’m a big fan of both green tea and mint, so I figured, why not combine the two?

Finding the Ingredients

First things first, I needed to gather my supplies. I already had some basic stuff like sugar and water, but I needed the key players: matcha powder and mint extract. I hit up my local grocery store, and luckily, they had both. If you can’t find matcha, you might need to check a specialty tea shop or order it online.

The Mixing Process

I started by making a simple syrup. I mixed equal parts sugar and water in a small saucepan. I heated it up over medium heat, stirring until the sugar completely dissolved. This took, like, five minutes, tops.

Once the syrup was ready, I took it off the heat and stirred in the matcha powder. I used about a teaspoon, but you can adjust this to your taste. I wanted that vibrant green color and a good tea flavor. Then, I added a few drops of mint extract. Be careful with this stuff – it’s potent! I started with just two drops and added more until I liked the minty-ness.

Setting the Mints

Now for the slightly tricky part. I laid out a sheet of parchment paper on a baking tray. Then, I carefully dropped small spoonfuls of the matcha-mint mixture onto the paper. You could also use a candy mold if you have one, but I just went for rustic, free-form blobs.

I popped the tray into the fridge to let the mints harden. This took a couple of hours. You can also leave them at room temperature, but it’ll take longer.

The Final Result

After they were fully set, I peeled the mints off the parchment paper. And… they were pretty good! The green tea flavor was definitely there, and the mint gave them a nice, refreshing kick. They were sweet, but not overly so. Honestly, they were way better than I expected!

  • Pros: Easy to make, tasty, refreshing.
  • Cons: Can be a little messy. Waiting for them to harden takes some patience.

Overall, I’d definitely make these again. They’re a fun little treat, and they’re perfect for after a meal. If you’re a green tea and mint lover like me, give them a try!
