Okay, so I’ve been wanting to make my own scented oils for a while, and I finally took the plunge! I decided to start with a white tea scent because it just sounded so clean and refreshing. Let me tell you, the whole process was way easier than I thought it would be.

Getting Started

First, I gathered all my supplies. This part was actually kind of fun, like a little treasure hunt. I needed:

  • Dried white tea leaves (I got these from a local tea shop, smelled amazing already!)
  • A carrier oil (I chose jojoba oil because it’s light and doesn’t have a strong scent of its own)
  • A glass jar with a tight-fitting lid (found a cute one in my kitchen cabinet)
  • A strainer (grabbed the one I use for pasta, hah!)
  • A dark glass bottle for storing the finished oil (ordered this online)

The Infusion Process

Once I had everything, it was time to get down to business. I put about a cup of the dried white tea leaves into my glass jar. Then, I poured in enough jojoba oil to completely cover the leaves, maybe about two cups? I just eyeballed it, to be honest.

I gave it a good stir to make sure all the leaves were coated in oil, and then I screwed the lid on tight. Now came the hardest part: waiting! I placed the jar in a cool, dark place – my pantry – and left it there for about four weeks. I read online that some people leave it for six weeks, but I was impatient.

I shook the jar every few days, just to mix things up a bit. I could see the oil slowly taking on a slightly golden color, which got me excited.

Straining and Bottling

After four long weeks, it was finally time to strain the oil! I set my strainer over a bowl and carefully poured the oil and tea leaves into it. The oil dripped through, leaving the spent tea leaves behind. It already smelled so good!

Finally, I carefully poured the infused oil into my dark glass bottle. I used a small funnel to make it easier. And that was it! My very own homemade white tea scented oil.

I dabbed a little on my wrist, and it smelled absolutely divine – light, floral, and just a tiny bit sweet. So happy with how this turned out! I’m already thinking about what scent to try next… maybe lavender?
