Okay, so I’ve been trying to be a little more mindful of what I’m drinking, especially when I’m out with friends. I love a good cocktail, but those calories can really sneak up on you! I kept hearing about this “white tea shot” and how it’s supposedly lighter, so I decided to do a little digging and, you know, experiment.
I started by trying to find out exactly what goes into a white tea shot. Turns out, it’s not some super strict recipe, which kind of threw me at first. But the basic idea seems to be:
Armed with this rough idea, I went to my kitchen. I had some vodka on hand, and I managed to find some peach schnapps at the store. I already had Sprite, so far, looking pretty easy.
I played around with the proportions. I didn’t want it too sweet, or too strong. After a few tries, I think I found my Goldilocks mix, and it was tasting pretty good.
Then came the hard part – figuring out how many calories I was actually drinking. I searched “white tea shot calories,” and lots of different numbers popped up. It was confusing! I guess since there’s no one recipe, the calories can change depending on how much of each thing you put in.
From what I can found, it looked like a “standard” white tea shot is probably somewhere around 100-150 calories. But honestly, it totally depends on how heavy-handed you are with the peach schnapps and how big your “shot” is.
So, is the white tea shot a miracle low-calorie drink? Not really. But, it’s probably lighter than some of those crazy sugary cocktails with all sorts of juices and syrups. If I control the portions and don’t go overboard with the sweet stuff, I felt like it’s a decent option when I’m trying to watch what I’m drinking, but still want to have a little fun.
The biggest thing I learned? Making it myself lets me control exactly what’s going in it. Plus, it’s kind of fun playing bartender!
