Okay, so I’ve been getting into collecting teacups lately, and I stumbled upon something called a “Satsuma tea set.” I had no clue what that was, so I did a little digging.

First, I just googled “Satsuma tea set” to get a general idea. I saw a bunch of pictures of these really ornate, colorful teacups and teapots. They looked pretty fancy, and definitely old.

My Deep Dive into Satsuma

I wanted to know more, So I did these things:

• Read some articles: I found a few blog posts and articles that explained the history of Satsuma ware. Apparently, it originated in Japan, in the Satsuma province, way back in the day.
• Watched some videos: There are some cool videos on YouTube showing off different Satsuma pieces and talking about how they were made. I learned that the detailed designs are all hand-painted, which is crazy!

Figuring Out What I Had

At this point, I was Thinking did I have a Tea Set myself? I went to my Store room and started to find it. I have many things I inherited from my grandma, but no, I do not have it

I went to the local antique shop in search of it. I explained the characteristics to the store keeper, after spending 2 hours I finally found one that was very similar to Satsuma.

I bought the tea set finally, and brought it to home, I was very happy. I cleaned it carefully, then, I made some tea and used the set for the first time. It felt pretty special, drinking from something with so much history behind it.

So I took some pictures of the tea-set, and shared to my Instagram.

That’s my Satsuma tea set adventure so far! Maybe I’ll keep an eye out for more pieces to add to my collection. It’s kinda addictive!
