Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “organic milk oolong tea” thing all over my social media feeds, and, well, I had to try it. I’m a big tea person, always looking for something new, and this sounded both weird and intriguing.

The Hunt Begins

First step, obviously, was finding the stuff. I checked my usual grocery store, the fancy one, and nope. Nothing. Then I hit up a couple of smaller Asian markets in my area. Still nothing. Finally, I went to that giant Asian supermarket a little further out – the one that has EVERYTHING. And bingo! There it was, tucked away in the tea aisle, a little bag labeled “Organic Milk Oolong.”

Brew Time

I got home, super excited, and immediately put the kettle on. I decided to go with a simple preparation. I used my favorite little teapot – the one I got on vacation that one time – and added about a teaspoon of the tea leaves. I always eyeball it, you know? Then I poured in the hot water, just off the boil, and let it steep. The instructions on the bag said 3-5 minutes, but I went for a full 5 because I like my tea strong.

The First Sip..and the second..and..

  • While it was steeping, I could already smell it. It was… different. Kind of creamy, a little bit sweet, but also definitely oolong-y. Not what I expected, but in a good way.
  • Then came the taste test. I took a sip, and… wow. It really does have this milky, smooth flavor. It’s not like I added milk to it, it’s just… there. It’s like the tea itself is creamy.
  • It’s also got that classic oolong taste – kind of floral, a little bit grassy, but with this extra layer of richness.

My verdict

Honestly, I’m impressed. It’s a really unique tea. I can see why people are going crazy for it. It’s comforting, it’s interesting, and it’s just plain delicious. I think I’ll be adding this to my regular tea rotation. I can easily imagine enjoy a cup after a long day or serve to the guests! I might even try adding a tiny bit of honey next time, just to see what happens. If you’re a tea lover, you gotta try this stuff!
