Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “White Tea Shot” thing all over TikTok and Instagram lately, and most of them use vodka. But, I’m a tequila girl, through and through. So, I decided to try making my own tequila version. Let me tell you, it was a journey of delicious experimentation!

The First Attempt (and Fail)

First, I just threw some stuff together. I figured, “How hard can it be?” I used:

  • Some cheap tequila I had lying around
  • Peach schnapps (because I saw that in a recipe)
  • A splash of sweet and sour mix
  • A tiny bit of Sprite

I shook it all up with ice and poured it into a shot glass. Honestly? It wasn’t terrible, but it was way too sweet and the tequila tasted…off. The peach schnapps kind of overpowered everything. Back to the drawing board!

Tweaking and Tasting

I did a little more digging (aka, watched more TikToks) and realized a few things. First, I needed better tequila. Second, I needed to adjust the ratios. So, for round two, I grabbed:

  • A decent blanco tequila (something mid-range)
  • Peach schnapps (still sticking with that)
  • Less sweet and sour mix
  • More Sprite

I mixed these together, being a little more careful with the measurements. I tasted it… better! Definitely less sweet, but still not quite there. The tequila was shining through more, which was good, but something was missing.

The “Aha!” Moment

I was about to give up, but then I remembered I had some fresh limes. I squeezed a tiny bit of fresh lime juice into the mix, and that was it! The missing piece! The lime added a nice tartness that balanced out the sweetness of the schnapps and the sour mix.

The Final (and Delicious) Recipe

So, after all that trial and error, here’s the recipe that finally worked for me:

  • 1 ounce of good blanco tequila
  • 1/2 ounce of peach schnapps
  • 1/2 ounce of sweet and sour mix
  • Splash of Sprite (maybe 1/4 ounce, just to top it off)
  • A squeeze of fresh lime juice (like, a small wedge’s worth)

I shook all of this up with plenty of ice until it was super cold, and then I strained it into my shot glass. It was perfect! Fruity, a little sweet, a little tart, and the tequila taste was definitely there, but not overpowering. Success!

So, yeah, it took a few tries, but I finally nailed my own tequila version of the White Tea Shot. It’s way better than those vodka ones, in my humble opinion. You should definitely give it a try!
