Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here… uh… “blooming tea set,” they call it. Fancy name, ain’t it? I ain’t never seen nothin’ like it before. My grandkid showed it to me on that… uh… inter-whatsit… internet thingy. Said it’s real popular now.

So, what is it? It ain’t just your regular ol’ tea, I tell ya. This here tea, it’s like a little flower show in your cup. They take these tea leaves, see, and tie ’em up with these dried-up flowers. Little tiny flowers, all bundled up tight. When you put it in hot water, it opens up, just like a real flower bloomin’. Purty, I guess, if you like that sort of thing.

Now, they sell these tea sets, right? They come in all sorts of boxes and such. Some are just plain, others are all fancy-schmancy. My grandkid says some of them are real expensive. Can you believe that? Paying all that money for some leaves and flowers! Back in my day, we just picked our own herbs.

• Some sets got just one kind of tea, plain and simple.
• Some got all sorts of different flavors. My grandkid says there’s “herbal tea,” “black tea” and I don’t know what else. Too many choices, if you ask me.
• And then there’s the “gift sets.” Them’s the fancy ones, I reckon. They put the tea in a nice box, sometimes with a cup or a little teapot. Good for givin’ to someone, I suppose. If you got the money to spare.

My grandkid says folks buy these tea sets for all sorts of reasons. Some folks just like tea, I guess. Nothin’ wrong with that. Some folks buy ’em as gifts. Birthdays, holidays, that sort of thing. Seems like a waste of money to me, but what do I know? I’m just an old woman.

They say this tea is good for ya, too. Keeps your skin from gettin’ all dry and wrinkly, they say. I don’t know about that. I ain’t never had no fancy tea, and my skin’s just fine. Maybe it’s all that work I did in the garden all them years. Kept me young, I reckon.

Now, where do you get these tea sets? Seems like you can find ’em everywhere these days. My grandkid showed me on that inter-whatsit thingy again. Amazon, she called it. Said they got a whole bunch of different kinds. And there are other places too, I guess. Specialty shops, or maybe even them big stores downtown. I ain’t never been to one, though.

And what about the price? Well, that’s the kicker, ain’t it? These tea sets can cost a pretty penny. Some are cheap, I guess, but the fancy ones… Lord have mercy! My grandkid showed me one that cost more than my whole month’s pension! Can you imagine? Who in their right mind would spend that much money on tea? It’s just leaves and flowers, after all.

But I guess some folks like nice things. And if they got the money, well, who am I to judge? It ain’t my money they’re spendin’. Still, I can’t help but think it’s a bit foolish. Give me a good ol’ cup of plain tea any day. No need for all the fancy fixin’s. But that’s just me, I suppose. The young folks, they like their newfangled things.

So, that’s the story on this here “blooming tea set.” Fancy tea, fancy boxes, fancy prices. If you like that sort of thing, go for it. But if you ask me, a good cuppa tea is a good cuppa tea, no matter how it looks. And free shipping for some folks too, imagine that. Shipping stuff for free, what will they think of next? Anyways, I’m gonna go make myself a cup of regular tea now. No flowers needed.
