Well, let’s talk about this tray tea set thingy. I ain’t no fancy scholar or nothin’, just an old woman who likes her tea, ya know? So, if I don’t use them big words, don’t you go lookin’ down on me.

First off, what in the world is a tray tea set anyway? Sounds complicated, but it ain’t. It’s just a bunch of them cups and saucers and a teapot, all sittin’ pretty on a tray. Like when you got company over and you wanna look all fancy-pants, even though you ain’t. That’s what a tray tea set is for.

Now, they got all sorts of them tea sets. Some are plain, just plain white or somethin’. Them are good for everyday use. You know, when you just havin’ a cuppa by yourself in the mornin’ before you gotta go feed the chickens or whatever chores you got.

But then, they got them fancy ones too. Them ones with the gold trim and the flowery patterns. Them’s the ones you bring out when the preacher comes over or when your daughter-in-law’s snooty friends are visitin’. You gotta show ‘em you ain’t some backwoods hick, even if you are.

• Them little cups, they call ’em teacups, I think. They gotta be small, not like them big ol’ mugs you use for coffee. Tea is for sippin’, not gulpin’, ya hear?
• And then there’s the saucers. Them’s them little plates that go under the cups. Keeps the tea from spillin’ all over your good tablecloth, I guess. Though, I ain’t got no good tablecloth, just that old plastic one I wipe down after supper.
• And of course, the teapot. That’s where the tea comes from, silly. Gotta have a good teapot, one that pours nice and don’t dribble all over the place. Nothin’ worse than a dribbly teapot, let me tell ya.
• Now, this tray thing. It’s what holds it all together. Makes it easy to carry everything from the kitchen to the livin’ room without droppin’ nothin’. And it looks nice too, all organized and whatnot. Some trays are just plain wood, some are fancy metal, and some even have pictures on ‘em. I seen one with a picture of a pumpkin on it once. Looked kinda silly, if you ask me, but to each their own, I always say.

Now, why would ya want a tea set with a tray? Well, like I said, it’s for lookin’ fancy. But it’s also practical. Like when you got a whole bunch of folks over for tea. You can’t be carryin’ each cup and saucer and teapot one by one, can ya? You’d be makin’ trips back and forth all day long. With a tray, you just load it all up and carry it all at once. Saves ya time and effort, ya know?

And then there’s the savin’ space part. Them trays, they call ‘em nestin’ trays sometimes. That just means they fit inside each other. So, when you ain’t usin’ ‘em, you can just stack ‘em up and they don’t take up so much room. That’s important, especially if you ain’t got a big house like them city folks.

I seen some tea sets that had all sorts of extras too. Like little spoons for stirrin’ your sugar and lemon, and them little plates for puttin’ cookies or cakes on. And some of them trays have them little handles on the sides, makes it easier to carry. And some of them have like, little feet on the bottom, keeps it from scratchin’ your table. They think of everything, them tea set makers, I tell ya.

So, if you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ yourself a tea set, I say go for it. It don’t matter if you ain’t got no fancy china cabinet or nothin’. You can just keep it in the cupboard with your other dishes. And it don’t matter if you ain’t got no fancy guests comin’ over either. You can use it just for yourself, if you want. Nothin’ wrong with treatin’ yourself to a nice cup of tea in a pretty cup, even if you’re just sittin’ on the porch by yourself.

Just make sure you get a good one, one that’s sturdy and won’t chip easy. And get one you like the looks of, too. After all, you’re the one who’s gonna be usin’ it. And don’t forget the tray, that’s important. Makes everything look nicer and more organized, and it’s just plain practical too. And if you can find one with a pumpkin on it, well, go right ahead and get it, even if I think it’s a little silly. You do you, honey. You do you.

But don’t go spendin’ all your money on it, ya hear? There’s more important things in life than fancy tea sets. Like puttin’ food on the table and keepin’ a roof over your head. But a little somethin’ nice for yourself every now and then, that’s alright too. Just don’t go overboard, that’s all I’m sayin’. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go put the kettle on. All this talk about tea has got me thirsty.
