green tea
Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here lemon zinger tea. It ain’t nothin’ fancy, but it sure does a body good.
What is this lemon zinger tea, anyway?
Some folks call it ginger lemon tea, some just say lemon ginger tea. It’s the same thing, far as I can tell. You take some lemon, you take some ginger, you boil it up in water, and there you have it. Now, if you’re buyin’ the bagged kind, just read the label, it’ll tell ya what to do. But if you’re makin’ it yourself, well, that’s a whole ‘nother story. But easy enough, mind you.
The taste, you ask?
It’s kinda sour, kinda bitter, but in a good way, ya know? Like, it wakes you up. The lemon, it’s got that zing, and the ginger, it’s got that bite. Together, they make somethin’ real special. A real crisp, sharp flavor, like them fancy folks say.
Why drink this lemon zinger tea, then?
Well, for starters, it’s good for ya when you’re feelin’ poorly. Especially in the wintertime, when everyone’s coughin’ and sneezin’. That ginger, it warms you right up, and the lemon, it’s got that vitamin C stuff. Keeps the sickness away, or helps you get over it quicker, anyhow.
Kept the sickness away from my young grandson. My daughter used to make this tea. My daughter and her husband work in the city. They come back to visit me with my grandson every once in a while. One winter, the flu was everywhere. People were sick left and right. My grandson, little Timmy, was playin’ with the neighbor kids, and wouldn’t you know it, they all got sick. Sneezin’, coughin’, the whole shebang. Timmy, though, he was fine. My daughter told me she’s been giving him this ginger lemon tea every day. The ginger, it kind of heats you up from the inside and keeps the sickness away. And lemon is full of that vitamin C stuff which everyone knows is good for ya. Now, I ain’t no doctor, but it seemed to me that tea did the trick. Kept that little fella healthy as a horse, while them other kids were laid up in bed.
And it ain’t just for sickness, mind you. It’s good for all sorts of things. My joints get achy sometimes, you know, bein’ old and all. And that tea, it helps with the achin’. Heard tell it’s good for headaches too. And your heart, and your liver. Keeps things runnin’ smooth, like a well-oiled machine. And the hair, it makes your hair strong and shiny. I tell you, this tea is like a magic potion!
Drink it when you can’t sleep? I don’t know about that. Some say you can drink it before sleep, it helps with some things but don’t make you sleepy. It never helped me sleep but I don’t have trouble sleeping to begin with. I drink it because it tastes good. And it’s good for me.
How much to drink?
Well, I ain’t no expert, but I reckon a cup or two a day is just fine. About eight ounces, they say. And don’t go puttin’ no sugar in it, ruins the whole thing. It’s supposed to be a little bit bitter, that’s what makes it work. Just plain old lemon, ginger, and water. That’s all you need.
Make hair good, you say?
Yep, that’s what I heard. Makes it strong and shiny. Full of vitamins and them anti-oxidant things. All natural too, no need for them fancy store-bought hair fixers. Just drink this tea, and your hair will be lookin’ good. At least that’s what my daughter tells me.
And for losin’ weight?
Well, I don’t know much about that. I’m too old to worry about losing weight. But I hear some folks say it helps. Burns the fat, or somethin’. Maybe it does, maybe it don’t. But it can’t hurt, that’s for sure. And if it helps you lose a few pounds, well, that’s just a bonus.
It makes your insides feel better, too. You know, sometimes you eat something that just doesn’t agree with you. Your stomach gets all upset, and you feel miserable. Well, this tea, it helps with that too. Settles your stomach right down. Makes you feel better in no time.
So there you have it. Lemon zinger tea. It ain’t pretty, and it ain’t sweet, but it’s good for what ails ya. Keeps you healthy, keeps you strong. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it?
