So, I decided to give this blueberry oolong tea from Turkey Hill a shot. I’d heard a few things about oolong tea and figured, why not? Plus, the blueberry part sounded pretty good. I went to the store the other day, picked up a bottle, and brought it home.
The first thing I did was pop it in the fridge to chill. I like my drinks cold, you know? After a few hours, I took it out and poured myself a glass.
The color was kind of a light amber, which I guess is normal for oolong tea. I took a sip, and it was… well, it was alright. The blueberry flavor was definitely there, but it wasn’t too strong. It was more like a hint of blueberry. The tea itself had a mild, kind of earthy taste. It wasn’t bitter or anything, just… mild.
I did a little digging online, because I was curious. Apparently, oolong tea has less caffeine than coffee, but still more than a lot of other teas. That’s probably a good thing, I don’t need to be bouncing off the walls. They say drinking it in the morning can help you feel more alert and boost your metabolism.
I also read that the less processed the tea leaves are, the more healthy stuff they have. Like, green teas are supposed to be the best, followed by oolong and then black teas.
The Turkey Hill bottle says it has 60 calories, which isn’t too bad. It also says it’s an “excellent source of vitamins C and E.” I mean, that’s cool, I guess. Blueberries are supposed to have these antioxidant things that are good for you.
I drank the whole bottle over a couple of days. Honestly, I didn’t really notice any huge changes. I didn’t feel suddenly energized or anything like that. But it was a nice change from my usual drinks.
I saw on the bottle that it said “Nature’s Accents”, and I guess that’s a good way to put it. It’s like the blueberry is just a little accent to the tea flavor.
Would I buy it again? Maybe. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t amazing either. It was just a decent, lightly flavored tea. If you’re looking for something different and you like a subtle blueberry taste, you might like it. If you prefer something stronger, you can give it a pass.
I did see online that you can order Turkey Hill tea and stuff through Instacart. I didn’t do that, but I guess it is convenient.
So, that’s my little adventure with Turkey Hill’s blueberry oolong tea. It was a fun little experiment, I guess, nothing to crazy. I heard that oolong is also called “Blue” tea, I can do some research on it next time.
