matcha tea
Hey everyone, today I wanna talk about something I tried recently – matcha tea bags. You know, I’ve always been a coffee guy, but I’ve heard so much about matcha and its benefits, so I decided to give it a shot.
First off, I went online to see what’s out there. Man, there are so many brands! I saw Aprika Life, Rishi Tea, Teelux, Tiger Organics, Jade Leaf Matcha, Hyleys, Tozzy, ITO EN, and The Republic of Tea. It was kinda overwhelming, to be honest. And the prices? They ranged from like 10 bucks to over 100! What’s up with that?
Anyway, I ended up going to Target because, well, it was convenient. I grabbed a box of matcha tea bags that looked decent, I can not remember the brand name though. I think it was from “The Republic of Tea”, or something like that.
I got home, boiled some water, and steeped the tea bag for a few minutes. The first thing I noticed was the color – it was this vibrant green, which was kinda cool. I took a sip, and…it wasn’t what I expected. It was kinda grassy, and a little bitter. Not bad, but definitely different from my usual coffee.
I did some more reading online and found out that pure matcha powder is supposed to be better than the tea bags. Apparently, the tea bags are mostly just regular green tea with a bit of matcha mixed in. And it said something about the tea bags having less of the good stuff – the nutritional benefits. Seriously? I felt a bit ripped off.
I drank the matcha tea for a few days. Honestly, I didn’t really feel any different. Maybe a little less jittery than when I drink coffee, but that’s about it. I also read that having a cup daily is perfectly ok. But same as the other caffeinated drinks, having too much in a day could be harmful. Possible side effects of drinking too much matcha may cause headaches, diarrhea, and insomnia.
So, that’s my matcha tea bag experience. I’m not sure if I’ll keep drinking it. Maybe I’ll try the pure powder sometime, but for now, I think I’ll stick to my coffee. But hey, at least I tried something new, right?
Did you guys try it before? How do you feel? Which brand do you like best?
