I’ve seen some folks online turning those Twisted Tea boxes into bags, and it looked pretty cool. So, I figured, why not give it a shot myself? I grabbed an empty box from the last party we had – you know, the ones that hold the tea bags? Yeah, that one.

First off, I emptied it out completely, making sure there were no leftover tea dregs or anything. Just a clean, empty box. Then, I carefully took off the top part where you usually pull out the tea bags. It was a bit tricky not to rip the cardboard, but I managed it with a little patience.

  • Cleaned out the box.
  • Removed the top part carefully.

Next up, I needed to make some handles. I had some old belts lying around that I wasn’t using anymore, so I cut them up and measured them to fit the size of the bag I wanted. I punched some holes in the box and the belts, then used some strong glue and a few rivets I found in my toolbox to attach them. It wasn’t super neat, but hey, it worked!

  • Cut and measured old belts for handles.
  • Attached handles with glue and rivets.

The inside of the box was kinda plain, so I decided to line it with some fabric. I had a leftover piece from an old project, a funky patterned one, which I thought would look awesome. I cut it to size and glued it to the inside of the box, making sure it was smooth and there were no bubbles. It added a nice touch and made the bag look more finished.

  • Lined the inside with fabric for a better look.

To close the bag, I used velcro strips. I stuck one side to the flap and the other to the inside of the box. It was a quick and easy way to make sure the bag could open and close easily. Finally, I decorated the outside with some stickers and patches I had collected over time. It was all coming together nicely!

  • Added velcro to close the bag.
  • Decorated the outside with stickers and patches.

After a couple of hours of tinkering, my Twisted Tea box bag was ready! It’s not perfect, but it’s unique and definitely a conversation starter. I’ve used it a few times to carry my stuff around, and it’s surprisingly sturdy. Plus, it’s a fun way to reuse something that would have otherwise ended up in the trash. If you’ve got an empty Twisted Tea box and some spare time, I’d say give it a go! It’s a fun little project, and you end up with a cool bag that’s totally your own.

What I learned:

  • It’s actually pretty easy to repurpose stuff you’d normally throw away.

  • A little creativity can go a long way in making something unique.

  • This kind of DIY project is a fun way to spend an afternoon.
