Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to get into tea lately. Not just any tea, I wanted the whole experience, you know? That’s when I decided to go for a cast iron tea set. I mean, they look cool, and I heard they keep the tea warm for a long time.

First, I spent hours looking online. There were so many options! Big ones, small ones, different colors, some with cool designs. I finally settled on one that was about 40 ounces, I guess? It seemed like a good size, not too big, not too small. It also came with a trivet, which is like a little stand to put the teapot on. That was useful.

Find It and Get It

After picking one, I found that the prices were all over the place, and you had to really look into the details for each one. But I finally found one that was a good price and looked pretty sturdy and clicked that ‘buy’ button.

When it finally arrived, I was stoked! I immediately unpacked it. The set was heavy, which I expected, but it also felt really solid. I followed the instructions that said to rinse it out first. I did it a few times, just to be sure.

First Time Brewing

  • Boil water: I boiled some water in my regular kettle first.
  • Warm the pot: Then, I poured a little bit of the hot water into the cast iron teapot, swirled it around, and dumped it out. I think that was to warm it up or something?
  • Add tea: It also came with a little metal basket thing, an infuser, I think they called it, for loose leaf tea. I didn’t have any of that, so I just used regular tea bags. I put two in there.
  • Pour and wait: I carefully poured the rest of the boiling water into the teapot, over the tea bags. Then I just had to wait. I let it sit for, like, five minutes?

Finally, Tea Time

The moment of truth! I poured the tea into one of the little cups that came with the set. It was still super hot. And it actually stayed hot for a really long time. I was pretty impressed. The tea tasted… well, like tea. Maybe a little bit different? I don’t know. It was good though!

Cleaning it was easy too. I just rinsed it out with water again and dried it with a towel. All in all, I’m pretty happy with my new cast iron tea set. It’s definitely a step up from my usual mug-and-tea-bag routine. I’d do it again. And, I would recommend it.
