tea set
Okay, so, today I decided to make myself a cup of osmanthus oolong milk tea. It turned out pretty good, so I thought I’d share the whole process here.
First off, I gathered all the stuff I needed. This included some oolong tea leaves, a handful of dried osmanthus flowers, milk, and a bit of sugar ’cause I like it sweet. I also grabbed a teapot, a strainer, and my favorite mug.
I started by boiling some water. While waiting for the water to boil, I measured out about a teaspoon of oolong tea leaves and a pinch of osmanthus flowers. I really like the floral scent of osmanthus, but you gotta be careful not to add too much, or it can get overpowering. Once the water was boiling, I poured it over the tea leaves and osmanthus flowers in the teapot.
Then, I let the mixture steep for about 5 minutes. I find that this gives it a nice, strong flavor without making the tea bitter. While the tea was steeping, I warmed up some milk on the stove. You don’t want to boil the milk, just heat it up gently.
After the 5 minutes were up, I used the strainer to pour the brewed tea into my mug. It smelled amazing at this point – a mix of that toasty oolong and the sweet, floral osmanthus.
Next, I added the warm milk to the tea. I usually go for about a 1:1 ratio of tea to milk, but it really depends on how creamy you like your milk tea. I also stirred in a teaspoon of sugar. I know some people prefer honey or other sweeteners, but I’m a simple sugar kind of guy.
Finally, I gave it a good stir, took a sip, and… perfection! It was creamy, fragrant, and just the right amount of sweet. Plus, I heard somewhere that osmanthus tea is good for digestion and stuff, so that’s a bonus.
So yeah, that’s how I made my osmanthus oolong milk tea. It’s a pretty simple process, and the result is totally worth it. If you’re a tea lover, I definitely recommend giving it a try!
