Alright, so I was scrolling through my social media feed the other day, and I saw this post about using soap with tea tree oil to keep bugs away. I thought, “Hmm, that sounds interesting. I wonder if it actually works?” I mean, who wouldn’t want a natural way to repel those pesky mosquitoes and flies, right? So, being the curious person I am, I decided to give it a try myself.

My Little Experiment

First, I went out and bought a bar of soap that specifically said it had tea tree oil in it. I made sure to check the ingredients list to confirm it wasn’t just some artificial fragrance. Then, I waited for a nice, warm evening when I knew the bugs would be out in full force. This is what I did:

  • I took a shower using the tea tree oil soap, making sure to lather up really well, especially on my arms and legs.
  • After my shower, I put on some light-colored clothes, because I heard that bugs are more attracted to dark colors.
  • Then, I went outside and just hung out in my backyard for about an hour. I was basically a human guinea pig, haha!

The Results

Honestly, I was pretty surprised. While I was sitting there, I did notice fewer bugs flying around me compared to usual. I even managed to avoid getting any mosquito bites, which is a big win for me because I’m usually a mosquito magnet! But, I did see a couple of flies still buzzing around, so it wasn’t like a complete bug-free zone.

Now, I’m not saying this is some kind of miracle solution, but from my little experiment, it does seem like tea tree oil soap might help to reduce the number of bugs that are attracted to you. It’s definitely worth a shot if you’re looking for a more natural alternative to those chemical-laden bug sprays. Plus, the soap smelled pretty good, so that’s a bonus!

I’m going to keep using this soap for a while and see if the results are consistent. Maybe I’ll even try making my own tea tree oil soap sometime. If any of you have tried this before or have other natural bug repellent tips, let me know in the comments! I’m always up for trying new things, especially when it comes to keeping those annoying bugs away.
