Alright, so a few weeks ago, I stumbled upon this whole thing about using tea tree oil for your teeth. I mean, I’ve heard about tea tree oil for like, a million other things – skin, hair, you name it. But teeth? That was new. I got curious, did a little digging, and decided to give it a shot. Figured, why not?
First things first, I got myself some tea tree oil. I made sure it was 100% pure, you know, the real deal. I definitely didn’t want to be putting some weird, diluted stuff in my mouth. I also read somewhere that you should never swallow the stuff, so I kept that in mind.
Now, how to use it? I found a few different ways people were doing it. Some mixed it with water for a mouthwash, others added a drop to their toothpaste. I decided to start with the mouthwash method. I took about half a cup of water and added two drops of tea tree oil. I swished it around in my mouth for about 30 seconds, then spat it out. Honestly, the taste wasn’t great – pretty strong and, well, oily. But it wasn’t unbearable.
I did this once a day, usually after brushing my teeth at night. I figured it would be a good way to kill any leftover germs and freshen things up. It became a part of my nightly routine pretty quickly.
After a couple of weeks, I started to notice a difference. My mouth felt cleaner, like, really clean. It was like a deep clean feeling that I didn’t get from just brushing alone. Also, my gums seemed a bit healthier, less sensitive. I used to have a bit of redness and sometimes bleeding when I flossed, but that seemed to improve.
Feeling a bit braver, I tried the toothpaste method. I just added one drop of tea tree oil to my toothpaste and brushed as usual. This way, the taste was more diluted and easier to handle. I did this a few times a week, not every day, just to switch things up a bit.
So, it’s been about a month now, and I’m still using tea tree oil. I’ve gone back to mainly using the mouthwash method because I like that extra step of swishing. My teeth feel great, and my gums are definitely happier. I even mentioned it to my dentist at my last check-up, and she said my teeth looked good, though she did remind me to keep it in moderation and not to overdo it.
It’s a simple thing to try, and if you’re looking for that extra clean feeling, it might just be worth a shot.
