Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “Earl Grey White Tea” thing pop up all over my Pinterest, and I was like, “What the heck is that?” I’m a big Earl Grey fan, you know, the usual black tea with bergamot. But white tea? Gotta try it.
So, first things first, I grabbed my favorite mug. Super important step, obviously. Then I went hunting for the ingredients. Turns out, finding actual Earl Grey white tea is kinda tricky! I checked a couple of local stores, no luck.
Then I remembered I had some loose leaf white tea – Silver Needle, I think – and a separate tin of Earl Grey. Bingo! I decided to just wing it and make my own blend.
While it was steeping, I added a tiny, tiny bit of honey. Like, just a drop. I usually like my Earl Grey straight, but I figured a little sweetness might work with the white tea.
Okay, so after the agonizing wait (3 whole minutes!), I took a sip. And… it was actually pretty good! The bergamot from the Earl Grey was definitely there, but it was way more mellow than usual. The white tea gave it this really light, almost floral flavor. It was super smooth, not bitter at all.
I think I might actually prefer this to regular Earl Grey sometimes! It’s perfect for a chill afternoon when you want something comforting but not too heavy. I definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re a tea lover. Even if you have to, like me, make your own blend. It’s worth the (very minimal) effort!
