Okay, so I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect white tea dress. You know, something comfy, flowy, and, most importantly, that actually fits well. As a plus-size gal, it’s not always easy to find that sweet spot between “blah, shapeless sack” and “oh honey, no.” So, I decided to document my whole process, because I know I’m not the only one out there struggling!

The Search Begins…

First, I scoured the internet. I mean, really scoured. I went through tons of online shops. I looked at so many dresses, my eyes started to cross. I made a list of things that were important to me like material, and shape.

• Material: I wanted something breathable, like cotton or linen. Nothing too clingy or, ugh, polyester.
• Shape: Tea length, obviously! And I was leaning towards an A-line silhouette, something that would flow nicely and not be too tight around the tummy.
• Sleeves: Short sleeves or cap sleeves were ideal. Gotta keep those arms cool in the summer!
• Details: Maybe some lace or embroidery? Something to make it a little special, but not too fussy.

Trying and …Trying Again.

I ordered a few dresses that looked promising.

And let the try-on sessions begin!

The first one? Nope. The fabric felt cheap and scratchy. The second one? Way too tight in the bust. The third one…well, it looked like a giant doily. Seriously, who designs these things?!

I almost gave up. Almost. But then I found it.

Success

It was a cotton blend, with a lovely, subtle embroidered detail around the neckline. The A-line shape was perfect, skimming over my curves without being too baggy. And the tea length? Just right, hitting mid-calf.I slipped it on, and it was a match! I actually did a little happy dance in my bedroom. It was comfortable, flattering, and exactly what I was looking for.
