Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “Martini Green Tea” thing all over TikTok and Instagram, and I had to try it. I mean, green tea? Good. Martini? Also good. Together? I was skeptical, but intrigued.

First, I gathered my stuff. I already had some green tea bags, so that was easy. I also grabbed my gin, because, you know, a martini needs gin. Then, I remembered I needed some simple syrup. Thankfully, there was already a jar of ready made syrup that I bought, so I put it on the table.

Making the Thing

  • I brewed a cup of green tea, extra strong. Like, two tea bags in one cup strong. I let it steep for a good five minutes, maybe even longer because I got distracted by a cat video.
  • While that was happening, I filled my cocktail shaker with ice. Lots of ice.
  • Once the tea was done, I took out the tea bags and let the tea cool down a bit. I didn’t want to melt all the ice in the shaker right away. Patience, young Padawan. I poured in the ready made syrup.
  • Once the tea was, like, lukewarm, I poured it into the shaker.
  • Then, the gin. I didn’t measure, because who has time for that? I just eyeballed it. Probably about two shots? Maybe three? Don’t judge.
  • Finally, shakey-shakey-shake! I shook that thing like my life depended on it. Until my hands were freezing and the shaker was all frosty.

I have a fancy martini glass, so I got it for my drink.I poured the mix into the glass.

Okay, verdict time. It was…surprisingly good! The green tea gives a slight tea taste, and the gin, and the sweetness from the syrup, it all just works. It’s refreshing, a little bit different, and definitely something I’d make again. Especially on a hot day. Or any day, really.
