Okay, so I’ve been seeing these vanilla matcha lattes all over my feed, and I finally decided to give it a shot at home. Let me tell you, it wasn’t as intimidating as I thought!
First, I gathered all my ingredients. You know, the usual suspects:
I started by sifting about a teaspoon of matcha powder into my favorite mug. This is important, apparently, to get rid of any clumps. Then, I poured in a little bit of hot water – maybe like 2 ounces? – and whisked it like crazy. I used a small bamboo whisk I found online, making those ‘M’ and ‘W’ shapes until it was nice and frothy with no lumps.
Next, I added a splash of my vanilla syrup. I’m a sucker for vanilla, so I probably went a little overboard. Then, I added maple syrup for my optional sweetener. You can adjust this to your own taste, of course.
Now for the milk! I gently heated up my oat milk on the stove. You could also use a milk frother if you have one. I don’t, I like my milk a little foamy, so I whisked it a bit while it was heating. Then, I carefully poured the warm milk into the mug with the matcha mixture.
I stirred everything together gently to combine all the flavors. And that’s it! I took a sip, and honestly, it was pretty darn good. The slight bitterness of the matcha, the sweetness of the vanilla, and the creaminess of the oat milk – it all just worked. Now that I made it once successfully, I will be making it all the time!
So, there you have it – my little at-home vanilla matcha latte experiment. It was super easy, and the result was delicious. Don’t be afraid to try it yourself!
