Okay, so I’ve been seeing “chai tea green” all over my Pinterest and I had to try it. I mean, who doesn’t love a good mashup? I’m a big fan of both chai and green tea, so I figured, why not combine them? Here’s how my little experiment went down.
First, I gathered my ingredients. I already had some green tea bags – just the regular kind, nothing fancy. For the chai part, I didn’t have any pre-made chai tea, so I decided to go the DIY route. I looked up a quick chai spice blend online and realized I had most of the stuff in my pantry:
I boiled some water in my kettle. While that was happening, I tossed the green tea bag into my favorite mug. Then, I added all the chai spices on top. I’m not gonna lie, it already smelled amazing.
Once the water was boiling, I carefully poured it over the tea bag and spices. I let it all steep for about, I don’t know, 5 minutes? I just kinda eyeballed it until the color looked good and the spices were really fragrant.
I removed the tea bag and strained out the spices using a small mesh strainer. (Note to self: get a tea ball or something for next time!). The liquid was this beautiful, warm golden-green color.
I took a sip, and… wow! It was actually really good! The green tea was mellow, and the chai spices added this lovely warmth and kick. It wasn’t too overpowering, just a really nice balance. I added a tiny bit of honey to sweeten it up a little, but it was honestly good even without it.
I’m definitely making this again. It’s the perfect drink for a cozy afternoon. Super easy, and it feels a little bit fancy, even though I just threw some stuff together. If you like chai and green tea, you should totally give this a try!
