herbal tea
Okay, so I’ve been wanting to try making my own body cleanser for a while now, and I finally took the plunge! I decided to go with a green tea theme because, well, I love green tea. Plus, I’ve heard it’s good for your skin.
First, I gathered all my ingredients. This was probably the most time-consuming part, just making sure I had everything. I needed:
Next, I brewed a super strong cup of green tea. Like, really strong. I let it steep for a good 15 minutes, maybe even longer. I wanted all that green tea goodness.
Then, I mixed everything together in a bottle. I didn’t really measure anything precisely, just kind of eyeballed it. It’s a pretty forgiving recipe, I figured. I put in the castile soap first, then added the cooled green tea, the sweet almond oil, the glycerin, and finally, a few drops of the tea tree oil.
I shook the bottle really, really well to make sure everything was combined. It turned a little cloudy, which I think is normal.
Finally, I tried it out! I used it in the shower just like any other body wash. It lathered up pretty nicely, not as much as the store-bought stuff, but still good. And it smelled amazing! The green tea scent was subtle, and the tea tree oil gave it a little zing.
My skin felt clean and soft afterward, not dry or tight at all. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out! It was way easier than I thought it would be, and it feels good to know exactly what’s in my body wash. Might try adding some different essential oils next time – maybe lavender or chamomile. We’ll see!
