Okay, so I’ve been trying to kick my coffee habit, and I heard that black tea with lemon could be a good substitute. I decided to give it a try for a week and see what happened. Here’s how it went down:
I brewed a cup of black tea, pretty strong, just how I like my coffee. Squeezed in half a lemon, no sugar. Honestly, the first taste was…interesting. It was definitely different from my usual morning joe. It was a bit bitter, but the lemon gave it a nice, tangy kick. I powered through it.
Woke up, made my black tea and lemon concoction again. This time, it wasn’t as shocking. I think my taste buds were starting to adjust. I even felt a little bit of an energy boost, which was surprising. Not as intense as coffee, but definitely something.
By this point, I was actually starting to enjoy the black tea and lemon. I experimented a bit – sometimes I used a whole lemon, sometimes just a wedge. I found that I liked it best with a generous squeeze of lemon. I also noticed I wasn’t getting that jittery feeling I sometimes got with coffee, which was a huge plus.
I started to do it according to the cup’s size.
This was the real test. Usually, by this point in the week, I’d be desperate for a cup of coffee. But I didn’t even think about it! I had my black tea and lemon, and I felt satisfied. My energy levels were pretty consistent throughout the day, too. No afternoon slump!
Okay, so after a week of drinking black tea with lemon, I’m a convert. I feel more alert, less jittery, and my digestion even feels a bit better, maybe it is because of the lemon. It’s not exactly the same as coffee, but it’s a pretty good substitute, and I think I’ll keep it up!
I feel much better after I tried!
