Okay, so I’ve been on this huge tea kick lately, and oolong is my jam. But not just any oolong. I’m talking about the good stuff – Taiwanese oolong. I heard it was amazing, so, naturally, I had to dive in and find the best one.
First, I did what anyone does – hit up the internet. I read a bunch of stuff, you know, blog posts, forum threads, all that jazz. It was, honestly, kinda overwhelming. Everyone had a different opinion! So many types, so many fancy names… I felt totally lost.
I decided I needed a strategy. I picked a few types that kept popping up:
Next up, I needed to get my hands on some actual tea. I went to a local tea shop, that I know. The owner was super helpful. I told her my plan, and she actually had samples of all three! Score!
I did a little tasting, right there in the shop. The High Mountain was light and floral, kinda delicate. Really nice, but not quite what I was looking for. The Dong Ding had this roasted, almost nutty flavor. Pretty good, I could see myself drinking that. But then… I tried the Oriental Beauty.
Oh. My. Goodness. The Oriental Beauty was something else. It seriously did have this sweet, honey taste, with a little bit of spice. It was so smooth and complex. I was instantly hooked. I took a large cup with me, and finished in one hour! It was so delicious.
So, for me, Oriental Beauty is the best Taiwanese oolong. At least, for now! I’m definitely going to keep exploring, there are so many other types to try. But this one has set the bar pretty high. If you’re looking to get into Taiwanese oolong, I totally recommend giving it a shot. You might just find your new favorite tea, too!
