Okay, so I tried making this black tea matcha thing today, and let me tell you, it was a bit of an adventure. I’m no expert, but I like trying new stuff, you know?

Find the Tea

First, I had to find some matcha powder. I already had some black tea bags at home. Not the fancy kind, just the regular ones I use every morning. So, I went to the store, and man, there are so many types of matcha! After looking around, I just grabbed a small bag that looked decent. It was a bit pricey, but I figured it was worth a shot.

Prepare the Black Tea

I boiled some water and steeped the black tea bag for about five minutes. I like my tea strong, so I let it sit for a bit longer than usual. While the tea was steeping, I got out a small bowl and a whisk. I’ve seen people use those bamboo whisks for matcha, but I just used a regular one. I put a teaspoon of matcha powder in the bowl. It was this really bright green color, kind of cool looking.

Mix Them

Once the tea was done, I poured a little bit into the bowl with the matcha. I started whisking, and it got all frothy. I kept adding more tea slowly and whisking until it was all mixed. It was a weird green-brown color, but it smelled pretty good.

Taste

I poured the mixture into a mug and added some sugar and a splash of milk. I like my drinks a bit sweet. Then, I took a sip. It was… interesting. The matcha flavor was strong, but you could still taste the black tea. It was earthy and a little bit bitter, but the sugar and milk helped balance it out.

My Impression

Honestly, it wasn’t bad. It was definitely different from anything I’ve had before. I’m not sure if I’d make it every day, but it was fun to try. I guess you could say it’s an acquired taste. If you’re into trying new things, you might like it.
