body scrub with tea tree oil

tea ceremony | February 12th, 2025

Okay, here’s my blog post about making a body scrub with tea tree oil, written in a casual, first-person style:

So, I’ve been wanting to try making my own body scrub for a while now. I get these annoying little bumps on my arms sometimes, and I heard tea tree oil is good for that. Plus, making your own stuff is kinda fun, right? It feels like a cool little science experiment.

Gathering My Supplies

First, I needed to get all my ingredients together. This is what I used:

  • Sugar: Just regular white sugar from my kitchen. I figured it would be a good, gentle exfoliator.
  • Oil: I have some old oil.
  • Tea Tree Oil: The star of the show! I already had a small bottle I use for blemishes.
  • A Bowl and Spoon: For mixing. Nothing fancy.
  • A Jar: To store the finished scrub. I used an old jam jar I washed out.

Mixing It Up

Okay, time to actually make the scrub! I didn’t really follow a recipe, I just kinda eyeballed everything. Here’s what I did:

body scrub with tea tree oil
  1. I poured about a cup of sugar into the bowl.
  2. Then, I added the oil. I started with a few big spoonfuls and mixed it in. I wanted a consistency that wasn’t too runny, but also not too dry and crumbly.
  3. Once the sugar and oil were mixed pretty well, I added about 10 drops of tea tree oil. I didn’t want it to be too strong, and I know tea tree oil can be a bit intense.
  4. I gave everything a good stir until it was all combined. It looked like wet sand, which seemed about right.

Testing It Out

I scooped a little bit of the scrub onto my hand and rubbed it in. It felt nice and scrubby, but not too harsh. The tea tree oil gave it a cool, tingly feeling, and it smelled really fresh and clean.

Storing It

After I was happy with the consistency and smell, I spooned the scrub into my clean jar. It fit perfectly! I screwed the lid on tight and that was it.

The Results

I’ve been using this scrub in the shower a couple of times a week. I wet my skin, scoop some out, and rub it in circular motions on my arms and legs. Then I just rinse it off. My skin feels so much smoother and softer afterwards! And those little bumps on my arms? They’re definitely less noticeable. I’m pretty happy with how this turned out! It was super easy, and I like knowing exactly what’s in it. I’ll probably try experimenting with different oils or adding some essential oils next time. Maybe lavender? We’ll see!
