matcha tea
Man, today I want to share a little adventure I had with a special kind of oolong tea. It’s called “Bug-Bitten Oolong.” Sounds weird, right? But trust me, it’s awesome!
So, I heard about this tea from a friend who’s really into all kinds of teas. He told me this oolong is unique because it’s made from leaves that have been nibbled on by little bugs called tea jassids. I was like, “What? Bugs eating tea leaves?” But he swore it made the tea taste like honey. I had to try it.
First, I went to find some. Not every tea shop has it, you know. I found a website that was selling it and ordered some. I did some research online and found that this tea is also called “Oriental Beauty,” “White-Tip Oolong,” and even “Champagne Oolong.”
When the tea arrived, I was excited. I brewed it like any other oolong, using water that’s not quite boiling. The leaves were beautiful, all twisted and colorful.
And then came the tasting part. The first sip, and I was in love! I understand the reason for selling it under the name “Champagne Oolong”. It really did have a sweet, honey-like flavor. It was smooth and a little bit buttery, but also kind of savory. I had a good time and wanted more. And the taste? It lingered in my mouth for a while, which was really nice.
I did some more reading and found out that these little bugs, when they bite the leaves, cause the tea plant to release some stuff called terpenes. That’s what gives the tea its special taste.
I’ve been telling all my friends about this bug-bitten tea. Some are grossed out at first, but when they try it, they get it. It’s such a unique experience.
So, if you’re a tea lover, or even just a little curious, you gotta try Bug-Bitten Oolong. It’s a whole different experience. It’s like nature’s little trick to make something ordinary extraordinary.
This tea is different from other teas. It also has a strong aftertaste. My friend used it as a dessert after dinner. It is delicious. I highly recommend it. It’s worth a try!
Anyway, that’s my tea story for today. Hope you enjoyed it!
