Okay, so, the other day, I was getting absolutely eaten alive by mosquitoes. I swear, they love me or something. I didn’t want to use those store-bought bug sprays with all the weird chemicals, so I thought, “Hey, I’ve got some tea tree oil, let’s see what I can do!”
First, I grabbed a small, empty spray bottle I had lying around. You know, the kind you might use for travel-sized stuff. I made sure it was clean, obviously.
Then, I poured in some water. I didn’t measure it exactly, just filled it up maybe three-quarters of the way. I think using distilled water is probably best, but honestly, I just used tap water.
Next came the tea tree oil. I added about 10-15 drops. I figured more is better when it comes to bugs, right? The smell is pretty strong, but I actually like it. It’s kind of refreshing, in a way.
After that, I screwed the top on tight and gave it a good shake. You want to make sure the oil and water mix together as much as possible.
So, with my homemade bug spray ready, I went outside to my garden. This is usually where the mosquitoes get me the worst. I sprayed it on my arms, legs, and neck – anywhere my skin was showing.
And you know what? It actually worked pretty well! I still saw a few mosquitoes buzzing around, but they weren’t landing on me nearly as much as usual. I was out there for a good hour, and I only got one or two bites. Normally, I’d be covered!
The smell does fade after a while, so I reapplied it maybe once while I was out there. But overall, I was super impressed. It’s definitely not as strong as the chemical stuff, but it’s a great natural alternative, and I felt way better about using it, especially around my kids.
I am so happy get a natural way to protect me and my family. I will keep to do it next time.
