Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this tea, the black one and the green one. Folks always askin’, “Which one’s got more kick?” You know, that stuff that makes ya jittery, like when you had too much coffee at the church social. They call it caffeine, fancy name for somethin’ that just keeps ya awake.

Black tea, that’s the strong stuff. I brew it real hot, you know, water boilin’ like a mad kettle. Makes it strong, good and strong. I like it with a bit of sugar, sometimes a splash of milk if I’m feelin’ fancy. My old man, he used to say it could wake the dead. Heh, not sure ’bout that, but it sure wakes me up. You pour that hot water over them black tea leaves, let it sit a spell, and bam! You got yourself a cuppa somethin’ that’ll get you goin’.

  • Hot water makes it strong
  • Good with sugar and milk
  • Wakes you right up

Now, green tea, that’s a different critter altogether. It’s kinda…lighter, you know? Not as strong, not as much kick. It’s like the difference between a workhorse and a pony. Both get you where you need to go, but one’s got more muscle. Green tea, it’s kinda…well, it’s green! And it don’t need water that’s boilin’ hot, just warmish, I guess. I drink it sometimes when I want somethin’ warm but don’t wanna be jumpin’ out of my skin all day.

So, if you’re lookin’ for that real get-up-and-go, that “I gotta get this field plowed before sundown” kinda feeling, black tea is your best bet. It’s got more of that caffeine stuff, more of that oomph. They say it’s got somethin’ to do with how they make it, lettin’ it sit around longer or somethin’. I don’t know the details, just know what works, you know?

Green tea, it’s got a little caffeine, sure, but not as much. It’s good for when you want to sit on the porch and watch the birds, not when you gotta chase the chickens out of the garden. I heard some folks say it’s healthier, but healthy ain’t gonna get the chores done, now is it? My neighbor, Martha, she drinks it all the time. Says it makes her feel calm. Me? I need somethin’ stronger.

They say the amount of that caffeine stuff ain’t always the same. Depends on how much tea you use, how hot the water is, how long you let it sit. It’s like makin’ biscuits; sometimes they’re fluffy, sometimes they’re flat. But mostly, black tea’s gonna give you more of a jolt than green tea. That’s just the way it is.

And there are other kinds of tea too, you know. Fancy ones with names I can’t even pronounce. Oolong, pu-erh, white tea…sounds like somethin’ you’d wear to a weddin’, not drink! But from what I hear, black tea and that pu-erh stuff, they got the most kick. Then comes the oolong, then the green, then the white. I ain’t never even seen purple tea, but they say that’s got even less kick than the white.

So, there you have it. Black tea’s the strong one, green tea’s the milder one. It ain’t rocket science, just common sense. You want a good strong cup to get you goin’, you go for the black. You want somethin’ a little gentler, you go for the green. And if you want somethin’ fancy, well, you go ask Martha, she knows all about them fancy teas.

At the end of the day, it’s all about what you need. Need to stay up late sewin’ a quilt? Black tea. Need to relax after a long day? Maybe green tea. Just don’t go drinkin’ that black tea right before bed, or you’ll be starin’ at the ceilin’ all night, countin’ sheep till the cows come home. And nobody wants that.

Just remember, boil that water good and hot for the black tea, let it sit a spell, and you’ll be good to go. And don’t let anyone tell you different! This old woman knows a thing or two about tea, you can bet your bottom dollar on that.
