Well, I reckon I can tell ya a thing or two about this tea party business. Some folks ask, can you offer tea bags at a tea party? I say, why not? Ain’t no hard and fast rule sayin’ you can’t. Now, I know them fancy folks with their noses in the air might turn ’em up at a tea bag, but who cares what they think?

Tea Bags Is Fine, I Think

Tea is tea, whether it’s them loose leaves or tucked in a little bag. I ain’t never understood all that fuss about loose tea anyway. Seems like a lot of extra work and mess to me. Tea bags is just easier, and that’s all there is to it. You just gotta boil your water right, don’t put sugar in tea, that’s just silly.

So, if you’re throwin’ a tea party and you wanna use tea bags, you go right ahead. Don’t let nobody tell you different. You can have a right proper tea party with tea bags, just like you can with that loose leaf stuff. I think it is fine.

What Kind of Tea to Use

Now, if you’re gonna use tea bags, you might as well have a good variety. Ain’t nothin’ worse than goin’ to a party and they only got one kind of tea. It’s like goin’ to a potluck and they only got one dish. Just ain’t right.

  • That Earl Grey, that’s a good one. Kinda fancy tastin’, but good.
  • Chai, that’s got all them spices in it. Some folks like that.
  • Peppermint, that’s good for your tummy if it’s feelin’ a little off.
  • Camomile, that’s supposed to help you sleep. I don’t know nothin’ about that.
  • Them fruit teas, like raspberry and such, I guess that’s good, never like them.
  • And then there’s them herbal teas. All kinds of those. I ain’t no expert on them.
  • And of course, you gotta have some English Breakfast tea, that is the real tea.

Hot Water and Tea Bags

You don’t want to be boiling a pot of water for each guest. You can get a big kettle and make water hot, and put it on a table, with all the tea bags. That’s the easy way. Put the water in cups, and put the tea bags in, and let them sit a while. Stir it up with a spoon, just like you were fixin’ a cup of coffee, only it’s tea.

When you stir it, put your spoon in the middle of the cup. Don’t be clinkin’ it around the edges like a fool. Just gently stir it, that’s all you gotta do.

Tea Party in the Summer

If it’s hot outside, you might want to have some iced tea too. That’s always nice on a hot day. You just make your tea, then put it in a pitcher, and put some ice in. Not too hard. But lots of folks like that in summer. I don’t care for it much, myself, but some folks do.

You can put out some lemon wedges, too. Some folks like lemon in their tea. I don’t, but some do. And maybe some sugar, though I don’t know why anyone would put sugar in tea. Just ruins it, if you ask me.

Just Have Fun

I reckon the most important thing about a tea party is just to have fun. Don’t get all worked up about whether you should use tea bags or loose tea. Just make some tea, put out some cookies or somethin’, and enjoy yourself. That’s all there is to it. Don’t need to be fancy. And if folks don’t like your tea bags, well, they can just go somewhere else. Ain’t your problem. You just enjoy your tea party and don’t worry about it. They don’t know what they’re talkin’ about anyway, I bet.
