Hey guys, so today I tried something a bit crazy – coffee in a tea bag. Yeah, you heard that right. I saw some folks talking about it online and I thought, why not give it a shot?
First, I grabbed some regular tea bags and my favorite ground coffee. Now, the internet folks said that you need way more coffee than tea for a decent cup, like two or three times more. So I emptied out the tea from the bags and started scooping in the coffee.
Next, I boiled some water and dropped a coffee-filled tea bag into a mug. I let it steep for a bit longer than I would with regular tea, figuring it needed more time. The smell was definitely coffee, which was promising!
After a few minutes, I took out the bag and took a sip. Hmm, not bad, but not great either. It tasted like coffee, but a bit weak. I guess those online folks were right about the coffee clumping together. It’s hard to get the water to touch all the grounds in that little bag, you know?
One of my tea bags broke in the mug, it was a little grittier. The flavor was stronger, though, maybe because more coffee was loose in the water.
So, would I do this again? Probably not. It’s a fun experiment, but the coffee just doesn’t brew as well in a tea bag. It’s way easier to just use a regular coffee maker or a pour-over. But hey, now I know, and now you know too! Don’t be afraid to try new stuff, even if it turns out a bit wonky. It is not a bad try overall.
You might want to be careful about one thing, ensure the tea bag is clean, free of other contaminants, or just get a new tea bag will do.
Alright, that’s it for my little coffee adventure. Catch you guys in the next one!
