Well, folks, I’ve been on a bit of a health kick lately, trying to cut down on sugary drinks. So, I thought I’d give this Crystal Light Decaf Lemon Iced Tea a try. I picked up a pack at the store the other day and figured, why not? Let’s see how this goes.

First off, I got the powdered mix, not the pre-made stuff. Comes in these little packets, and each one supposedly makes a decent amount. You know, the usual deal with these drink mixes. I grabbed a big pitcher and emptied one of the packets in. It’s this fine, yellowish powder, and it smells pretty lemony, not gonna lie.

Then, I added some cold water to the pitcher, per the instructions. Started with a little bit, just to get the powder to dissolve. I gave it a good stir with a big spoon, making sure there weren’t any clumps floating around. Once it looked like it was all mixed in, I filled the pitcher the rest of the way with water.

Now, for the taste test. I poured myself a glass over some ice. Took a sip and… it’s alright. It definitely has that lemon iced tea flavor, but it’s a bit on the lighter side, as you’d expect. Not overly sweet, which is good. I can taste the tea, but it’s pretty subtle. I guess that’s the “decaf” part, huh? They say it’s made with real black tea, but I wouldn’t have guessed it. One thing that surprised me was that it claimed to have very low caffeine content in all varieties.

It also contain other things inside. According to the package, the main things are citric acid, instant tea, and some other stuff I can’t pronounce.

  • CITRIC ACID
  • CORN SYRUP SOLIDS+
  • INSTANT TEA
  • MALIC ACID
  • ASPARTAME++
  • ACESULFAME POTASSIUM
  • MALTODEXTRIN
  • MAGNESIUM OXIDE
  • NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR
  • RED 40
  • YELLOW 5
  • BLUE 1

Honestly, it’s not bad for a sugar-free drink. It’s refreshing, especially on a hot day. I wouldn’t say it’s going to replace my regular iced tea anytime soon, but it’s a decent alternative if you’re watching your sugar intake or want something without caffeine, I guess. Overall, it was a fun little experiment. Might try some of the other flavors sometime. Who knows?
