Okay, so I’ve been trying to cut down on caffeine, right? But I still love my black tea in the morning. So I got curious about how much caffeine is actually in decaf black tea. I mean, it says “decaf,” but does that really mean zero caffeine?
I did some digging, you know, the usual Google search. It turns out, decaf doesn’t mean caffeine-free. Who knew?
It looks like a regular cup of decaf black tea, about 8 ounces, has around 4 milligrams of caffeine.
Now, 4 milligrams is not a lot compared to regular tea or coffee. I also found out that regular black tea has about 47 milligrams of caffeine per cup, and coffee has even more, usually around 95 milligrams. That is a big difference!
I even did some math, converting it to other measurements. Turns out that’s like 0.5 milligrams per ounce, or 1.69 milligrams per 100 milliliters. Numbers, numbers, numbers!
So, what does this all mean? It means you can drink decaf tea while trying to limit your caffeine intake.
Well, I’m not a scientist or anything, but from what I can tell, having a cup of decaf black tea isn’t going to give you the same buzz as a regular cup. If you’re like me, trying to cut back on caffeine but still enjoy a warm cup of tea, decaf seems like a pretty good choice.
I’ve been drinking decaf for a week now, and honestly, I feel pretty good. I still get that comforting feeling from the tea, but without the jitters or the afternoon crash. It’s a win-win for me!
