tea ceremony
This green tea, oh boy, let me tell you, it’s somethin’ else. My neighbor, she gave me some, said it’s good for ya. Said it helps you drop those extra pounds. Well, I ain’t so sure about all that, but I been drinkin’ it. Diet green tea, they call it. Sounds fancy, don’t it?
I boil up some water, throw in a bag of that green tea. It smells kinda grassy, you know? Not like that sweet tea I like, but it ain’t bad. I heard it makes your sugar go down. This diet green tea, it’s got all sorts of stuff in it, I reckon. I don’t understand those big words though, so I can’t say.
My neighbor, she’s a skinny little thing. Always has been. She swears by this tea. Drinks it all day long. Me, I just have a cup or two. Can’t stand to drink too much of anythin’, really. Makes me have to go to the bathroom all the time. Diet green tea is no exception!
Now, I ain’t sayin’ this diet green tea is magic or nothin’. I still eat my taters and gravy. Can’t give up all the good stuff, you know? But I figure, maybe this tea helps a little. Can’t hurt, right? It is good to drink something different, I suppose. And it does make me feel full, so maybe I eat a little less when I drink it.
I seen some folks, they put lemon in their tea. Or honey. I tried that once. Didn’t much care for it. I like my tea plain, just like I like my coffee black. No need for all that fancy stuff. Diet green tea is fine just the way it is, at least for me.
Some folks say this green tea, it gives you energy. I don’t know about that. I still get tired in the afternoons. Need my nap, tea or no tea. But, then again, I ain’t no spring chicken anymore. Maybe if I was younger, I’d feel that pep they talk about. The diet green tea, it seems to do wonders for other people, but not so much for me.
They say, this here diet green tea, it’s full of somethin’ called “cat-e-kins.” Sounds like somethin’ you’d feed a cat, don’t it? But they say it’s good for you. Helps you burn off that fat, they say. Well, I ain’t seen much of that happenin’, but like I said, I ain’t givin’ up my fried chicken either. Those “cat-e-kins” sure have a tough job then.
My grandbaby, she came over the other day. She saw me drinkin’ my diet green tea. She made a face. Said it looked like pond water. Kids these days! They don’t know what’s good for ’em. She wanted soda pop, of course. Full of sugar, that stuff. I told her, “This here tea is better for you.” She just rolled her eyes. That diet green tea is not something kids like, that is for sure.
I reckon I’ll keep drinkin’ this green tea. It ain’t hurtin’ nothin’, and who knows, maybe it’s helpin’ a little. Old habits are hard to break, you know? But I’m willin’ to try new things. Even if it’s just a cup of tea. This diet green tea, it’s here to stay in my kitchen, I think.
The other day I saw an article about the diet green tea. It was talking about how it is good for your heart. I thought, well, that is good to know, I guess. They say it is also good for your brain, keeps you sharp. Well, we will see about that, maybe this old brain can still learn some new tricks. I also heard it can prevent you from getting sick. Now that would be something. I sure do hate being sick.
I do not know all the things that are in that diet green tea, but it must be something good. It is natural, at least. That is what they say. I do not like things that are not natural, like those new-fangled sweeteners. I prefer things that come from the earth. I guess that is why I like that tea, it is made from leaves. And leaves come from the earth, so that is good enough for me.
All in all, the diet green tea is not that bad. Maybe you should try it too. It might help you lose weight. It might keep you healthy. It might do a lot of things. I do not know for sure. I just know that I like it, and I will keep drinking it. Maybe one day I will understand all those big words they use to describe it. But for now, it is just a cup of tea to me. A cup of tea that is supposed to be good for me.
