So, I’ve been seeing a lot of talk about Earl Grey green tea lately and got curious. I mean, I like green tea, and I’ve had Earl Grey, but together? Had to try it. First off, I went to the store and picked up a box of the stuff. Nothing fancy, just a regular brand I saw on the shelf.

Brewing Time

When I got home, I boiled some water. While waiting for it to boil, I took out my favorite mug. When it comes to tea, I’m a creature of habit. I ripped open the tea bag and, honestly, the smell was pretty interesting. It was like, the bergamot from the Earl Grey hit first, and then there was that grassy green tea smell under it.

I dropped the bag in the mug and poured the hot water over it. The instructions said to steep it for about 3-5 minutes, so I set a timer on my phone. I like to watch the tea change color as it steeps, it is so satisfying!

    What I did:

  • Boiled water – Filled up the kettle and set it to boil.
  • Prepped the mug – Got my favorite mug ready.
  • Steeped the tea – Poured the hot water over the tea bag in the mug and let it steep for 4 minutes.

After the timer went off, I took out the tea bag. The color was a light golden green, lighter than regular green tea for sure.

First Sip

Okay, so the taste. It was… different. I mean, you definitely get that Earl Grey flavor, that citrusy, kind of perfumey thing. But then the green tea mellowed it out. It wasn’t as strong as regular Earl Grey, but it also wasn’t just like plain green tea. It was somewhere in between, which I guess is the point.

Final Thoughts

Honestly, I liked it! It’s not something I’d drink every day, but it was a nice change of pace. I think if you like both Earl Grey and green tea, you’d probably dig this. It’s like they took the best of both worlds and smashed them together. I found that it is good for the cold weather recently.

I’m no tea expert, but I thought it was worth a try. Plus, I saw some stuff online about it being good for you, like green tea is. So that’s a bonus, I guess. If you’re bored with your usual tea, maybe give this Earl Grey green tea thing a shot. You might be surprised!
