Today, I wanted to try something different, so I decided to dive into the world of Sun Moon Lake Black Tea. I’ve heard a lot about it and finally got my hands on some. Here’s how it went:

Getting Started

First, I gathered my supplies. I needed:

  • Sun Moon Lake Black Tea leaves (obviously!)
  • My favorite teapot
  • A couple of nice teacups
  • Filtered water
  • A timer (my phone works great)

Brewing the Tea

I started by boiling the water. It’s important to use fresh, filtered water because it really does make a difference in the taste. While the water was heating up, I measured out the tea leaves. I used about one teaspoon per cup, but you can adjust this to your preference.

Once the water reached a rolling boil, I poured it over the tea leaves in my teapot. Then, I set my timer for about 3 minutes. Some people like it stronger, so they might steep it for 4 or even 5 minutes. It’s all about finding what you like best.

Tasting and Enjoying

After the timer went off, I removed the tea leaves. I use a teapot with an infuser built in, super convinient. You don’t want the tea to get bitter by over-steeping. I carefully poured the tea into my teacups.

The color was this beautiful, rich amber. I took a slow sip and… wow. It was really smooth, with a slightly sweet and malty flavor. I’ve heard some people describe it as having hints of cinnamon or even mint, but I’m not sure I got all of that. It was definitely delicious, though! I also ate some cookies, It was a great taste!

I spent the next half hour just relaxing and enjoying my tea. It was the perfect way to unwind after a long day. Sun Moon Lake Black Tea? Definitely a winner in my book. I Will try it next time!
