- Green Tea Mixed with Black Tea: What Happens? (Easy Tips for Beginners!)

Okay, so I saw this thing online about mixing green tea with black tea and I thought, why not give it a shot? I’m a big tea drinker, mostly just regular black tea, but I’ve been trying to drink more green tea because, you know, it’s supposed to be good for you.
First, I gathered my supplies. I grabbed my favorite mug, the one with the little chip on the rim that I’m too attached to replace. Then I took two tea bags, one green tea, and one black tea. I usually just buy whatever’s on sale at the grocery store, nothing fancy.
I filled up my electric kettle with some water and switched it on. While waiting for the water to boil, I unwrapped the tea bags. The green tea one smelled kind of grassy, which is what I expected. I put both tea bags into my mug. Once the kettle clicked off, I carefully poured the hot water over the tea bags.
Now came the waiting. I usually let my black tea steep for about three minutes, but I wasn’t sure about the green tea. I decided to go with four minutes total, figuring that was a good middle ground. I set a timer on my phone.
When the timer went off, I carefully removed the tea bags. I usually added a spoonful of sugar and a splash of milk to my black tea, so I did the same with the mixture. Then I gave it a good stir, picked up my mug, and cautiously took a sip.
Honestly, it wasn’t bad! It tasted like black tea, but a little bit lighter and with a hint of that grassy green tea flavor. It was kind of a nice change, actually. I think I managed to find a good balance by mixing them. The milk and sugar helped mellow out the flavors, too. I happily finished my mixed tea!
I probably would do this again, especially when I’m feeling like I need the black tea caffeine kick but also want the supposed health benefits of green tea. It’s an easy way to switch things up!
