Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “Happy Being Blueberry White Tea” thing floating around, and I was like, “What the heck is that?” I’m a big tea person, so I figured I had to try it out. I mean, blueberry and white tea? Sounded pretty interesting.
First things first, I gathered my stuff. I already had some loose leaf white tea – Pai Mu Tan, I think it’s called? – that I got from that little tea shop downtown. Then, I grabbed some blueberries from the fridge. Fresh ones, because why not? I also got a lemon, just in case I wanted to add a little zing.
Next up, boiling the water. I used my electric kettle, because it’s, like, super easy. I heated it to around 175°F (80°C). You don’t want to burn the white tea, it’s delicate, you know?
I let it steep for, like, 5 minutes. I tasted it, and it was good, very gentle. I wanted a bit more blueberry flavor, so I gently muddled(that my new word of the day) the berries in the mug with the back of a spoon, just to release some more of their juice.
After that, I let it steep for another minute or two. I tasted it again. Perfect! It was this beautiful, pale color with a hint of purple from the blueberries. The taste was light and floral, with a nice, subtle sweetness from the berries. I didn’t even need to add the lemon. Seriously, it was super refreshing.
So yeah, that’s my “Happy Being Blueberry White Tea” experiment. It turned out way better than I expected. I’ll definitely be making this again, especially when I get a chance on hot days. It’s a fun way to get the benefit from drinking tea!
