Hey everyone, today I wanted to try something new and refreshing, so I decided to make hibiscus green tea. I’ve heard a lot about the health benefits of hibiscus and I love green tea, so I thought, why not combine the two?

Getting Started

First, I gathered all the ingredients. I had some dried hibiscus flowers that I bought a while back from a local store, and of course, I always have green tea bags on hand. I also grabbed some honey, because, you know, I like my tea a bit sweet.

Brewing the Tea

I started by boiling some water in my old, trusty kettle. While waiting for the water to boil, I put a handful of dried hibiscus flowers into a teapot. Once the water was boiling, I poured it over the hibiscus flowers. I let that steep for about, I don’t know, maybe 5 to 7 minutes. I just watched it until the water turned a really nice, deep red color.

Next, I strained the hibiscus tea into a mug to get rid of the flowers. Then, I added a green tea bag to the mug and let it steep for another 3 minutes or so. I’m not a fan of super strong green tea, so I didn’t want to leave it in too long.

Sweetening and Enjoying

After removing the green tea bag, it was time to add some sweetness. I drizzled in a good amount of honey, maybe a tablespoon or two, and stirred it all together. I took a sip and, oh boy, it was good!

  • The hibiscus gave it a tart, almost cranberry-like flavor.
  • The green tea added a nice, smooth, earthy note.
  • And the honey just rounded everything out with the perfect amount of sweetness.

Honestly, this hibiscus green tea turned out way better than I expected. It’s super refreshing and feels like it’s doing something good for my body. I can see myself making this a lot more often, especially on hot days. If you’re looking for a new tea to try, definitely give this one a shot. It’s easy to make, tastes great, and it’s probably pretty good for you too. I think next time I might try it iced. That would be pretty neat. I’m no expert, just enjoying trying new things and sharing them with you all. Stay cool and keep drinking tea!
