That honey bug bite oolong, oh, it’s somethin’ else. Heard ’bout it from folks talkin’, sayin’ it’s a good tea. They say it’s from Taiwan, where them little bugs, green ones, they bite the tea leaves. Makes it taste like honey, they say. Sounds strange, but I reckon it’s true.
These honey bug bite oolong, they’re all the rage now. Everyone’s talkin’ ’bout ’em. Heard they come in different kinds. Some are light, like the sun. Other ones, they’re dark, like the bottom of a well. I reckon it all depends on how they make it.
Taiwanese tea, that’s what they call it. Been around for a while, I reckon. People there, they know their tea. They grow it up in the mountains, where it’s all misty and cool. Good for tea, I suppose. And these bugs, they only come out in the summer. When it is hot, that is when these bugs come out.
The light oolong tea, they say it goes good with, uh, them fancy fruits. Lemons and such. And cheese, the soft kind. And crackers. Fancy stuff, huh? Even them, uh, scallops and lobsters. Rich folks’ food, I reckon. Me, I just drink it plain. Still tastes good.
Now, that dark oolong tea, that’s a different story. It’s strong. Can take on them heavy foods. Like them stir-fries, with all the veggies and meat. Or duck, roasted up all crispy. And them spicy curries, the kind that make you sweat. I have tried, I can not take it.
And get this, they say it goes good with sweets too! Chocolate and, uh, caramel. Who woulda thought? Tea and chocolate. World’s gone mad, I tell ya. But I guess it works. Maybe those bug-bitten teas are really something special after all.
These little green bugs, they call ’em Jacobiasca formosana. Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it? But they’re important, I guess. They’re the ones that make the tea taste like honey. Nature’s funny that way, ain’t it? Little bugs makin’ a big difference.
Folks say these tea jassids, that’s another name for ’em, they’re a farmer’s friend. Help ’em make good tea. I reckon that’s true. If the tea tastes good, everyone’s happy. The farmer, the folks drinkin’ it, even them little bugs, I suppose.
They are tiny, just like green leaves. So, you will never know if they are leaves or bugs. Tiny but helpful, I think. If no these bugs, tea may not taste good.
I heard some folks, they get all fancy with their tea. They use them special pots and cups. They measure the water just so. They even time how long it steeps. Me, I just boil some water, throw in some tea leaves, and let ‘er sit for a bit. Works just fine.
But I reckon if you wanna get the most outta that honey bug bite oolong, maybe you gotta do all that fancy stuff. Maybe it brings out the flavor more. Or maybe it’s just a way for folks to feel important. Who knows?
One thing I do know, these teas that are bug-bitten teas. They are good. They just taste good. That is all I need to know. If you want to try, just try.
And this tea, you can drink it hot or cold. Some people put ice in it. It is just like drinkin’ juice when it is cold. Good in summer.
