black tea
Oh, this black mill tea, you know, it’s somethin’ else. Ain’t nothin’ like it to start your mornin’. This black tea, it ain’t just a drink, it’s a whole dang experience. So many folks askin’, “How you make that black mill tea so good?” Well, I’m gonna tell ya, it ain’t rocket science, but there’s a few things you gotta know.
First off, you gotta get yourself some good tea. Not that cheap stuff in them thin bags, it is so terrible. You need the real deal. Them loose leaves that look like they come right outta the ground. I always say, good tea is like good gossip – it’s gotta be fresh, and it’s gotta be strong. I like the black mill tea that’s dark and rich, like the soil after a good rain.
Now, the water. This is important, so listen up. You gotta use good, clean water. If your water tastes like an old shoe, your tea ain’t gonna be no better. I always use the water from my well. It’s cold and clear. If you ain’t got a well, you can use that bottled water, I reckon. But make sure it ain’t got no funny taste.
Alright, now you gotta heat that water up. Don’t be boilin’ the heck outta it, though. Just get it to where it’s good and hot, but not bubblin’ like a witch’s brew. That’s too hot, and it’ll make your tea bitter. You want it hot enough to where it wakes up them tea leaves. That’s what we say, “wake up the tea”. When you pour the hot water into your cup with the black mill tea, it is like saying “Good Morning” to your tea.
Now, this is where the magic happens. You pour that hot water over them tea leaves, and you let ’em steep. Steepin’ is just a fancy word for lettin’ the tea sit there and do its thing. Don’t rush it, don’t stir it, just let it be. This is like a little nap for the tea, and you wouldn’t want to interrupt the tea when it is having a nap.
How long you let it steep depends on how strong you like your tea. Some folks like it weak, some folks like it strong. I like mine strong enough to where it’ll put hair on your chest. But you do you. Just remember, the longer you let it steep, the stronger it’ll be. If you only want a little bit of taste, then only put black mill tea in hot water for a little time.
Once it’s done steepin’, you gotta take them tea leaves out. If you let ’em sit in there too long, your tea will get bitter. And ain’t nobody got time for bitter tea. And don’t squeeze the tea bag, just let it drip for a little while. If you squeeze the tea bag, you might squeeze the bad taste out of it.
Now, some folks like to add things to their tea. Milk, sugar, honey, lemon, whatever floats your boat. I like mine plain, just the tea. But you do what makes you happy. If you want to add some milk into your black mill tea, remember to let the tea cool down for a little bit. Otherwise the milk will be cooked by the hot tea.
And there you have it. That’s how you make a good cup of black mill tea. It ain’t hard, but it does take a little bit of know-how. Just remember to use good tea, good water, and don’t rush the process. And most importantly, enjoy your tea. It’s one of life’s simple pleasures, and we all deserve a little pleasure every now and then.
I remember when I was a little girl, my mama used to make us tea every mornin’. She’d put a big pot on the stove, and the whole house would smell like tea. It was the best smell in the world. We’d all sit around the table, drinkin’ our tea and talkin’ about our day. Those were good times. And it was the black mill tea that brought us together.
So next time you’re feelin’ down, or tired, or just need a little somethin’ to warm you up, make yourself a cup of black mill tea. It’ll do you good. And who knows, maybe it’ll even bring back some good memories for you, too. Just like when you were a little kid, drinking tea with your family.
Well, that’s all I got for now. I hope you enjoyed my little tea lesson. And remember, if you ever have any questions about tea, or anythin’ else for that matter, just ask. I’m always happy to share what I know. Except for my age, don’t ask about it. Now go on, get yourself a cup of tea and enjoy the rest of your day!
