organic tea
So, the other day, I was feeling a bit under the weather, and my grandma, bless her heart, suggested I try her special homemade tea. She calls it “ginger cinnamon lemon tea.” I was like, “Okay, Grandma, let’s give it a shot.”
First, I grabbed a small pot and filled it with about three cups of water. I put it on the stove and cranked up the heat until the water started boiling like crazy.
While waiting for the water, I took a piece of ginger, about an inch long, and peeled off the skin. Then, I sliced it up into thin pieces. I also grabbed a cinnamon stick, nothing fancy, just the regular kind you get from the store. Lastly, I sliced a lemon in half.
Once the water was boiling, I tossed in the ginger slices and the cinnamon stick. I squeezed the juice from one half of the lemon right into the pot and threw the squeezed half in there too. Why waste it, right?
I turned down the heat to a simmer and let it all cook together for about 10-15 minutes. You could smell the ginger and cinnamon filling up the kitchen. It was actually pretty nice.
After that, I turned off the stove and let the tea cool down a bit. I poured it into a mug through a strainer to catch the ginger and lemon bits. To sweeten it up, I added a spoonful of honey. You can add sugar or whatever you like, but I prefer honey.
Honestly, the tea was surprisingly good. It was warm, a little spicy from the ginger, and had that nice, tangy kick from the lemon. I guess grandma really knows her stuff. It’s a simple recipe, really, nothing complicated.
My grandma always says this tea is good for soothing a sore throat and calming you down before bed. I don’t know about all that, but it did make me feel pretty relaxed. Plus, it’s just nice to have something warm to sip on.
So, there you have it. That’s how I made ginger cinnamon lemon tea, following grandma’s old-school recipe. It’s nothing fancy, but it does the trick. Give it a try sometime; you might like it!
