Okay, so I’ve been into making my own herbal teas lately, and today I want to share my experience with making lemon echinacea tea. It’s a simple recipe that I found really refreshing and potentially good for the immune system.
First, I gathered my ingredients. I decided to use fresh echinacea flowers from my garden. I picked about 1-2 fresh echinacea flowers – petals and all. It is said that echinacea tea, also known as the purple coneflower. I also grabbed a lemon because, you know, it’s called “lemon echinacea tea.” And of course, I needed some water and a bit of honey for sweetness.
Next, I boiled about 2 cups of water in a small saucepan. Once it was boiling, I added the echinacea petals and leaves. I reduced the heat and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes. The longer it simmers, the stronger the tea will be. Some research said that we can use up to 900 milligrams of various dry echinacea. So I think using 1-2 flowers should be fine. I’m not sure but I guessed it should be OK.
After simmering, I removed the saucepan from the heat. I squeezed the juice of half a lemon into the tea. I like a strong lemon flavor, but you can adjust this to your taste.
Finally, I strained the tea into a mug to remove the echinacea pieces. I added a teaspoon of honey, stirred it well, and voilà! My lemon echinacea tea was ready. I saw some studies talking about echinacea can improve immunity, blood sugar, anxiety, inflammation, and skin health. It may even have anti-cancer properties. I’m not very sure about these, but at least it tasted good, haha.
It’s a pretty straightforward process, and the result is a warm, comforting drink. Plus, it feels good to use ingredients from your own garden. Give it a try if you’re looking for a new tea to add to your routine!
