jasmine vs green tea

Okay, so I’ve been messing around with different kinds of tea lately, and I thought I’d share my little experiment comparing jasmine and green tea. It’s nothing fancy, just my personal take on these two.

The Setup

First, I grabbed some decent quality jasmine tea and green tea. I didn’t go for the super expensive stuff, but I also avoided the really cheap, dusty tea bags. I wanted something that would give me a good idea of what each tea is actually like.

Brewing Time

  • I boiled some water. Can’t have tea without boiled water, right?
  • For the green tea, I let the water cool down just a bit. I’ve heard that using boiling water on green tea can make it bitter, so I waited like a minute or two.
  • I used about a teaspoon of tea leaves for each cup.
  • The green tea I steeped for about 2-3 minutes.
  • The jasmine tea, I also steeped for around 3 minutes. Some say you can go longer, but I didn’t want it to get too strong.

Tasting Notes

Green Tea:

  • Smell:It had this fresh, grassy smell. Kinda like a freshly mowed lawn, but in a good way.
  • Taste: It was light and, yeah, a little grassy. There was a slight bitterness, but it wasn’t overpowering. It felt clean and refreshing.

Jasmine Tea:

  • Smell: Whoa, the flowers! It’s like sticking your face in a bouquet of jasmine. Super fragrant.
  • Taste: The flowery taste definitely comes through. It’s smoother than the green tea, and it has this subtle sweetness. It felt a bit more delicate.

My Verdict (For Now!)

It’s really down to personal preference, isn’t it? I like the refreshing, clean taste of green tea, especially on a hot day. It is great! But the jasmine tea is so unique with that floral aroma and taste. It is more of a treat for the senses.

It’s like, if I want something simple and invigorating, I’d go for green tea. But if I want something a bit more special and fragrant, I’d choose jasmine.

I’m still playing around with different brands and brewing times. It’s fun to see how the flavors change. That is all for my little tea test!
