Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get into Korean green tea for a while now. I finally took the plunge and decided to try it out. Here’s how it went down:

The Hunt Begins

First, I needed to actually find some. I went to that big Asian supermarket a few towns over – the one with, like, a whole aisle just for tea. Even then, it was a bit overwhelming. There were so many options!

Making My Choice

I finally settled on a box of “Sejak” tea. I vaguely remembered reading somewhere that it’s a good, everyday kind of Korean green tea. Plus, the box looked pretty. Yep, I’m a sucker for packaging.

Brew Time!

Back home, I boiled some water. Then I remembered something about green tea not liking boiling water, so I let it cool down for a few minutes. I guessed at the temperature – probably not very scientific, but hey, I’m learning!

  • I put a tea bag in my favorite mug. It was bigger than I thought.
  • I poured the water over it.
  • I waited for, like, two minutes? The instructions were in Korean, so I was mostly winging it.

The First Sip (and Beyond)

Okay, first impression? It was…gentle. Not super strong, but definitely not boring. It had this nice, slightly grassy taste, and a little bit of sweetness. It was actually really refreshing!

I ended up drinking the whole mug. And then I made another one. I think I’m starting to get the hang of this Korean green tea thing. I might even try to find some loose leaf tea next time, just to feel extra fancy.

It is really tasty. I enjoyed it!
