tea ceremony
Man, I’ve been trying to find a decent way to make a big batch of iced tea without it being a total hassle. I was messing around with a bunch of regular tea bags, and it was just a pain. Too many little bags, and I always ended up with weak tea. So, I started looking into these “large tea bags.” Sounds simple enough, right?
First, I hit up a few different stores. I figured Target would have something, and sure enough, they did. They had these Lipton Family Black Iced Tea Bags, which seemed promising. The price was pretty good, only $2.29 for a box of 24, but they also had a 48-count box. I also saw some herbal tea bags from Bigelow, but I was really focused on finding something for iced black tea.
Then, I started digging around online to see what else was out there. I found a bunch of sites selling tea bags in bulk, which is cool if you’re, like, a restaurant or something. But I just wanted something for home use.
I checked out some online marketplaces too. Lots of options for reusable tea bags, which is great for the environment, but I was more interested in convenience this time around. I saw prices ranging from around $5 to almost $30 for some fancy ones. They had some unbleached cotton tea bags, reusable drawstring ones, and even some biodegradable options. I noticed one listing for Numola 50Pcs Unbleached Cotton Tea Bags, reusable drawstring, for $8.68, that looked decent.
One thing I was wondering about was how much tea is actually in these bigger bags. Turns out, it can be anywhere from 1 to 3.5 grams, which is more than the standard 2 grams in a regular tea bag. The listing said you can use 2 tea bags to make a 32oz pot of tea. That sounds about right for me.
So, after all this searching and comparing, I’m definitely going to give these large tea bags a try. It seems like a much easier way to make a big pitcher of iced tea without all the fuss. I’ll probably start with the Lipton ones and then maybe explore some of those reusable options later. I’ll keep you guys posted on how it goes!
